Blaise Carrig, top executive at
Heavenly Mountain Resort, has been chosen to co-lead
Vail Resorts' Mountain Division.
In his additional role, Carrig will oversee Breckenridge
and Keystone, while remaining Heavenly's chief operating
officer. Vail's Mountain Division includes Beaver Creek,
Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly mountains.
"I'm familiar with those resorts," Carrig said Tuesday.
"I'm definitely excited about the opportunity to expand
my presence and be more involved in the company's
growth."
Carrig will oversee the Mountain Division alongside John
Garnsey, who now is chief operating officer of Beaver
Creek.
Carrig's promotion follows the resignation of Bill
Jensen, current top executive at Vail Mountain and
president of its Mountain Division, who is leaving Vail
Resorts to become chief executive officer of Intrawest,
based in Vancouver.
Chris Jarnot, who had been senior vice president of
marketing and sales for Vail Resorts, was promoted to
chief operating officer of Vail Mountain.
Jensen presided over Vail as it notched repeated No. 1
rankings in the annual SKI magazine poll. He also pushed
for more grooming and increased environmental
initiatives, including Vail's move to 100 percent wind
power.
Earlier in his career, Jensen worked for the company
that owned Northstar-at-Tahoe, Sierra-at-Tahoe and Bear
Mountain Ski Resort in Southern California. Before that,
he worked for Sunday River in Maine and Kassbohrer All
Terrain Vehicles.
