Friday in South Lake Tahoe on suspicion of robbing the
Wells Fargo Bank inside Raley's near Stateline on New
Year's Eve, police said.
In a collaboration with the FBI, the South Lake Tahoe
Police Department investigations unit gathered enough
evidence which led them to arrest Scott Alan Pearson on
suspicion of robbing the bank, said South Lake Tahoe
Police Lt. Martin Hale. The suspect told bank tellers he
had a bomb.
The suspect left a box at the scene, identified it as a
bomb, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
Because of a potential bomb being at the scene, the
bank, along with the Raley’s Supermarket were evacuated.
The Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad examined the devic and
rendered it safe. Raley’s supermarket was reopened later
that night.
On Friday investigators from the South Lake Tahoe Police
Department and the FBI located and arrested Pearson who
faces charges of robbery, burglary and using a
destructive device to terrorize.
Pearson was arrested at 3876 Lake Tahoe Blvd.
Investigators learned of Pearson’s identity based on
their investigation and information associated with the
security surveillance tapes, Hale said.
Scott Pearson is being held on charges at the El Dorado
County Jail on $250,000 bail.
